TRAINING
CIVILS SUPERVISOR (ANCILLARIES)
Location: Croydon
Job Purpose:
To achieve the department objectives in line with the corporate strategy and vision for which the job holder is directly responsible and continuously improves performance. The Supervisor will report to Operations Manager Civils and will work with him in the allocation of the workload. They will have responsibility for ensuring the necessary levels of productivity are being achieved and that work is carried out to the required standards of safety and workmanship.
Principal Accountabilities / Objectives:
Carry out the day-to-day management of resources in line with programme requirements.
Job Content / Main Tasks:
Ensure that daily recording of accurate site records is carried out to enable the Scheme Specific job Cost Monitoring and CVR are maintained.
Daily recording of PITA information from gangers and weekly review with Assistant Area Managers / Senior General Foreman.
Input where required, into scheme or reactive works programmes to enable clear understanding of site issues identifying where improvements in value and cost management can be achieved.
Manage the day to day running of the ancillaries works programme confirming completion, quality and defects performance.
Manage tanker operations when issued and other civils assets, Labourers and JCB’s as required.
Ensure day-to-day compliance for Health and Safety, including the completion of weekly safety inspections also safety inspection sheets whenever you visit site.
Liaison with QS function to ensure early warning notices and value capture is maintained and ongoing on all planned work.
Be responsible for the daily management of the gangs to meet productivity targets linked to the resource programme.
Responsible for the coordination of the labour only subcontractors and that they carry out their operations on site in a safe manner and in accordance with the specification.
Check that all their sites are clear on completion of the work.
Check that operatives are carrying out work to the quality required and carryout 10% Audits to comply with the contract.
To complete the required records of work carried out in a timely and accurate manner. For the Health and Safety on all the sites under his/her control
Ensure that the right plant and resources are made available so that operatives can complete their work as safely and efficiently as possible.
Ensure near miss reporting is captured on a weekly basis.
Ensure that all work packs are closed out on a daily basis.
Ensure that all gangs are working to their full potential and timesheets are checked and signed off on a weekly basis
Make sure that sites are visited between the hours of 10:00 and 15:00
Conduct Pre site visits as and when required
Assess work packs for gangs (received from works coordinators).
Risk assessments to be filled in of all risks known
Permits to dig filled out and put on registers
Manage sickness and absence and follow reporting procedure.
NCR Reporting on a weekly basis
Manage training requirements of Gangs Communicating with the Client
Deal with any job issues that arise during the day
Build firm relationships within the Waste Network Services Contract.
Competency: Skills/Knowledge/Qualifications:
Have extensive civil engineering and drainage maintenance experience at a senior level.
Have a detailed understanding of the ancillaries operations sector.
Have an in depth understanding on how local authorities and statutory bodies operate.
Possess an appropriate qualification and have sound technical knowledge.
Have a sound understanding of H&S and environmental legislation and best practice
Clarity of speech and ability to clearly communicate
Effective influencing, problem solving and decision making abilities
Ability to communicate at all levels.
Ability to adapt to changes in work practice and adapt to working environment
Ability to read and understand task & manufacturer’s instructions
Ability to utilise new technology
Appropriate analytical and fault finding ability
Working to deadlines and task completed on time
Desirable
Strong risk management skills.
Operations utilising Van packs in the south London area
Franchisee operations experience
Managing people experience
