DRAINAGE ENGINEER

Location: Field based on the Thames Water Contract

Job Purpose:
To achieve the department objectives in line with the corporate strategy and vision for which the job holder is directly responsible and continuously improves performance. The Drainage Engineer will report to the supervisor and will work with him and the schedulers, planners & programmers in the allocation of the workload. They will have responsibility for ensuring the necessary levels of productivity are being achieved and that work is carried out to the required standards of safety and workmanship.

Ensure that daily recording of accurate site records is carried out to enable the Scheme Specific job Cost Monitoring and CVR are maintained.

Daily recording of PITA information from gangers and weekly review with Assistant Area Managers / Senior General Foreman.

Check that all sites are clear on completion of the work.

To complete the required records of work carried out in a timely and accurate manner. For the Health and Safety on all the sites under his/her control

Risk assessments to be filled in of all risks known

Permits to dig filled out and put on registers

NCR Reporting on a weekly basis

Conduct Daily and weekly vehicle checks

Carry out a range of emergency and contracted services to company standards, ensuring that customer requirements are met.

To operate in accordance with H&S and Quality procedures

To submit all work documentation fully and accurately to ensure swift payment and job costing analysis

To maintain standard of company service vehicle and equipment

To assist in the generation of business by submission of leads.

Conduct drainage blockage removals, blockage CCTV, sewer cleaning and root cutting as instructed.

GCSE Mathematics
Competency Cards
EUSR Confined Space Entry High Risk NC1,2,3 & 4 or C&G equivalent
EUSR Confined Space Entry Low Risk NC1 & 2 or C&G equivalent
EUSR Confined Space Entry Medium Risk NC1,2 & 3 or C&G equivalent
Communicating work via HHU (Hand Held Unit)
Credit 1 legal and ownership responsibilities for the sewerage system and customer care
Credit 2 drain and sewer cleaning with high pressure water
Credit 3 cctv inspection of private drainage systems
High Pressure Water Jetting Association Competency Training
Hygiene Standards Pass
Knowledge of BS EN 13508: Part 2 Sewer Classification
NRSWA Units 1-4
Vocational lining repair training (Ambient Cure)
Vocational patch repair training (Ambient Cure)
Asbestos Awareness Training
Basic Fire Safety
Confined Space Awareness Training
Emergency First Aid
Manual Handling
Working at Height

Competency: Skills/Knowledge/Qualifications:
Basic IT skills

Conversant with the operation of manufacturers fault finding devices

Understanding of time cost and quality constraints

Ability to familiarise tenants with operation of their system

Accurately record results and to populate certificates or notices

Customer care awareness including vulnerability and diversity

Have experience in drainage maintenance.
