DESIGN TEAM LEADER

Location: Scotland

ROLE PURPOSE: To manage all on-going design requirements.

Accountabilities
1. Delivery
•Manage the unit within the agreed budgets.

•Ensure all projects are designed effectively by well-trained and competent Designers.

•Continually monitor productivity levels and seek continuous improvement.

•Ensure customer satisfaction is at the forefront of all activities.

•Develop a pro-active and responsive culture within the unit

2. Health, Safety and Environment
•Ensure all Freedom Group’s Health and Safety procedures and policies are fully implemented within the unit.

•Ensure full adherence to the Safety Rules, instructions and standing orders of DNO’s (as applicable) and other customers we may work for.

•Take reasonable care of yourself and others who may be affected by your actions.

•Ensure there is prompt recording and investigation of all accidents and near misses.

•Deal with any concerns regarding Safety, Health or the Environment in your unit.

3. Planning and organising
•Establish and develop, with the Delivery Manager, a unit management structure to meet on-going needs of the clients.

•Organise personal workload to maximise effective use of time.

•Allocate work to others in order to ensure the maximise utilisation of expertise within the business.

•Ensure all unit work is planned and organised to the benefit of the business.

4. People/Team work
•Carry out effective management of all direct reports.

•Work alongside other members of the management team to ensure the effective delivery of targets.

•Communicate effectively with all staff and ensure that team briefings and other communication channels are fully effective.

•Ensure all people in the unit are treated in a fair and equitable way in accordance with the Freedom Group equal opportunities policies and such policies.

•Ensure all Freedom Group employees in the unit are aware of the goals of the business to improve their effectiveness on a day to day basis.

5. Quality
•Ensure all unit processes and procedures are fully suitable and compatible with the needs of the business.

•Implement Freedom Group’s approach to Quality in all work done within the unit.

•Ensure all technical work is carried out to the very highest level of quality.

Qualifications
Graduate calibre (HNC min.)
Technically competent
Suitable business qualification preferred.

Experience
Fully commercially aware
Management experience in a variety of organisations, including the ESI or construction.

Skills
Excellent people management skills.
Excellent financial and organisational skills.
Computer literate – able to use MS access, project and excel.
